“I always loved health, fitness and personal growth. So when I found yoga it all came together.” After receiving her initial 200-hour teaching certificate at NYC’s Sonic Yoga, a Jivamukti style studio, Catherine began her teaching journey at a Kripalu studio in Chicago, her hometown. Moving to San Diego in 2007, she continued to explore all aspects of yoga, studying Anusara’s sound principles of alignment and using them as the foundation in her Vinyasa Flow style classes. Her wide exposure to many teachers and philosophies has added depth and balance to her teaching style and she is grateful to them all.
Teaching a flow style of yoga, she focuses on alignment principles with an emphasis on breathing. This creates a healing environment in which each student receives their own unique benefit. She offers a creative practice that guides students through a safe exploration of the postures. Her emphasis on mindfulness and compassion shows up in her teaching, a yoga practice that will open the body and heart; challenging enough to produce results for her students and rewarding enough to inspire them to stay committed.
Concurrent with her yogic studies, she studies energy medicine, nutrition and meditation. She has studied Gary Craig’s EFT (emotional freedom technique), spent a year in Shamanic apprenticeship, and has taught workshops on energetic techniques for personal empowerment and release.
